This blog was originally started to better help me understand the technologies in the CCIE R&S blueprint; after completing the R&S track I have decided to transition the blog into a technology blog.
CCIE #29033
This blog will continue to include questions, troubleshooting scenarios, and references to existing and new technologies but will grow to include a variety of different platforms and technologies. Currently I have created over 185 questions/answers in regards to the CCIE R&S track!! Note: answers are in the comment field or within "Read More" section.

What are EIGRP default metrics?
1 comments:
EIGRP uses bandwidth and delay by default but can use load and reliability. MTU is an option but is not used in the metric calculation. EIGRP Metric = 256*((K1*Bw) + (K2*Bw)/(256-Load)+K3*Delay)*(K5/(Reliability + K4))
The default values for weight are:
K1 = 1 (bandwidth)
K2 = 0 (Load)
K3 = 1 (Delay)
K4 = 0 (Reliability)
K5 = 0 (MTU)
The default formula is 256*(BW + Delay)
If you change the default weights then you must make this change on all EIGRP routers
