This blog was originally started to better help me understand the technologies in the CCIE R&S blueprint; after completing the R&S track I have decided to transition the blog into a technology blog.

CCIE #29033

This blog will continue to include questions, troubleshooting scenarios, and references to existing and new technologies but will grow to include a variety of different platforms and technologies. Currently I have created over 185 questions/answers in regards to the CCIE R&S track!! Note: answers are in the comment field or within "Read More" section.

bba-group is used when configuring PPPoE. It is used on the server side and the virtual-interface is assigned to the bba-group. The interface where you enable PPPoE is configured to use the bba-group.

Here is an example (this is not meant to be a complete PPPoE explanation)

#bba-group pppoe global
#virtual-template 1

There is a variety of additional configuration that could be added in regards to session timeouts and such.

#interface virtual-template 1
#ip unnumbered loopback0
#mtu 1492
#peer default ip address pool POOL

#ip local pool POOL 10.10.10.100 10.10.10.150

#interface loopback0
#ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

#interface gig 0/1
#pppoe enable group global

When I do an example of the PPPoE client I will add a link in both posts. This will provide a full configuration from a client/server perspective.
