What does "ip route-cache policy" accomplish?

This was added as of 12.0 to allow policy based routing to be fast switched. Fast switching with policy based routing is not enabled by default and uses process based switching. To enable policy based routing and fast switching you must enable policy based routing first then enable "ip route-cache policy"

Example:

interface fastethernet 0/1
ip policy route-map PBR
ip route-cache policy

"show ip cache policy"
